ZestyAI Expands Leadership Team to Support Fast Growth

C.J. Tinloy, Head of Finance, and Nick Allain, Head of Marketing, taking on key positions to meet the demands of ZestyAI’s commercial success.

OAKLAND, CA, February 24th, 2020 — ZestyAI, which   has expanded its leadership team with two executives that bring extensive backgrounds in successfully scaling high-growth technology start-ups. The hires come after the company's bookings with leading insurance companies increased tenfold in 2019.

C.J. Tinloy joins ZestyAI to oversee administration that includes financial planning & analysis, accounting, controlling, HR, performance management and other topics crucial to building a financially responsible company with an amazing culture. Tinloy’s background in insurance and technology brings both familiarity and credibility to the Head of Finance role. She led the finance and accounting team at Coalition Inc., a fast growing cyber security InsurTech startup, through a $40M funding round and audited multiple insurance firms while with Ernst & Young. She also brings experience rapidly scaling tech companies, including a stretch of mobile gaming growth at Electronic Arts and the successful exit of InfoScout to Vista Equity Partners in 2017.

“With many large customers coming on-board, we are building the team and processes to maintain our people-first approach — whether that’s employees, clients, or policyholders.” Tinloy says. “If you put people first, then they will make great products and the profits will follow. A mutual understanding of that is part of what made this role such a great fit.”

Nick Allain joins ZestyAI to fill the Head of Marketing position. Allain’s background includes Spire, an aerospace firm which collects global data from a network of satellites, where he lead brand, marketing, and communications from seed funding past the company’s series C round. In his time at the company, the product grew from a proof of concept to a network of more than 72 revenue generating satellites. He brings a track record of building global brands through a hands-on approach to public relations and marketing.

“This is a rare opportunity to be a part of a solution that will redefine how the world sees risk. Artificial intelligence, computer vision, and high resolution satellite imagery aren’t just buzzwords anymore —those are technologies that are quietly fueling a revolution that accurately models climate risk today and will soon expand to change many aspects of our lives for the better.” said Allain. “It’s already changing the landscape of insurance and will continue to transform the lens through which we see the world.”

“ZestyAI is one of the most selective start-ups in the whole of Silicon Valley when it comes to talent. Nick and C.J. bring a rare combination of deep functional experience and proven ability to scale technology startups that is incredibly difficult to find,” says Attila Toth, Founder & CEO of ZestyAI. “They will lead two of our key functions because they’ve proven in their careers that know what needs to be done to scale ZestyAI and have the hands on skills to make it a reality. As I’ve said before, we don’t leave things up to chance—we recruit leaders with a history of success.”
